Trip to Disneyland

At the beginning of the year we participated as a family in Disney's "give a day, get a day" promotion so we each had a free pass to Disneyland.  Well, Jasmine didn't qualify because she wasn't six at the time.  We met our cousins there and got to spend one night with them in the condo that they rented.   They were there for a whole week and we just flew down for 2 days.  The total bummer was that Jonas was supposed to come and meet us but at the last minute, his flight was full and he didn't make it.  So he missed Disneyland!!! That was a major disapointment, and it wasn't the same without him.

I can't remember what, but something was wrong with my camara, so I didn't even get to take many pictures.  There were all taken with my phone.  They are all very random.  Jasmine got to see all of the princesses and we went down and danced with them and all that.

This is the funniest picture ever!!!  Hate and love those roller coaster camaras.  Okay now that you have laughed at mine and my nieces faces, take a closer look.  See the lady on the very back row, she looks like she is meditating right?  And then the lady behind my niece is singing a hymn.  And, even the kid behind me is acting as if nothing is wrong.  Total breeze.  I love this picture.
On the way out Shay wanted to stop by the Lego store.  This year he has gotten so into Legos!

Movie in the Park

Every summer I want to go to at least one movie in the park.  This time Jonas and I went and saw New Moon on the lawn of the State Capitol.  The view was so beautiful up there!

We just had Taye because the older kids were having a sleepover at cousins.  It was so fun, except I have a problems with staying awake during movies at night...oh well, it was still fun.

Trolley Square

On Saturday in August we went to an event at Trolley Square where they had free carriage rides.  Both Taye and Jasmine love horses so much and it was a fun little ride.  We had to wait in line for a while though.  I love spending time with the kids on Saturdays, taking them places.  This past summer I have had less time since my face painting work is usually on Saturday, but each Saturday I would still try to squeeze in something fun, either before or after my booking.

County Fair

Here are some fun pictures from the County Fair.  Jonas got to go with us this year, so that was a treat.
Every year the kids participate in the reading program so they get a couple of free rides.

And the free petting zoo is always a big hit.

Day at the Herriman Beach

I had heard that there was a beach in Herriman, about 30 min from our home, so I thought we should go check it out.

It's a man-made beach with sand brought in.  The kids had a blast!

And they had fun taking pictures of us too!

Jasmine's Birthday Party

Jasmine's party was a hit and pretty easy to do.  I am done with overplanning and overwhelming myself.  So I made it simple. Jasmine wanted a rock star 4th of July party. So I painted them all as rock stars and then they each got accessories to make the transformation complete. Necklaces, silly bands, inflatable guitars...you know, the essentials.
 We had popscicles.
Did the chicken dance, among others.
 Jasmine rockin' out.
Then we had our family birthday party for her that same day at a little park.  She pretty much just opened her presents, had pizza and cake.  Her aunt Li made her such a cute guitar cake!

And what she wanted most for her birthday was a face painting kit just like mom.  She was thrilled!! Pretty soon she is going to be painting better than me!

Visit to Idaho July '10

We went on a trip to see Leah at the end of July and these are some of the pictures of the kids playing.  They had so much fun romping around in the wilderness by their house.  They love it there!! We also went swimming as you can see.

I love the contrast between Rivy (nickname) and Taye.  They are only a few days apart!  Love that.

And what did Leah and I do while all this playing was going on?  Talk and talk and visit and catch up with each other!  It was wonderful!

Butlerville Days

Even though I was tired after working all day, I still felt like I needed to take the kids to a July 24th celebration.  So we went to Cottonwood Heights and enjoyed the festivities.  They got to make some really cool crafts, like home-made candles.

Lehi Foam Day

This is a funny picture but you can at least see Shayden's cousin shirt. He is drenched at this festival in Lehi that I worked at for the 24th of July. It was such a last minute thing, I think I talked to them 2 days before! I wish I had known how popular our booth would have been because I would have brought my teenager to help me. As it was, my parents showed up a little after it opened (just to see me, they are so supportive) and ended up needing to stay the whole time to help! There was a line the whole time and I know that I lost a lot of business because people didn't want to wait and it was HOT! But festivals are such a gamble and you just never know! So now to get to the drenched part. This festival had a silly little activity that I had never heard of...foam blasting! Everyone stood in the middle of this field and the fire department shot foam out of these huge cannon type things. It was hilarious! So that is how Shayden got drenched. The funny thing is that I kept telling people to get tattoos instead of face paint since they are waterproof, but they still wanted to pay to get their kids' face painted! Even though I told them it would just wash off. People are funny.

I love this picture of random people getting foamed!

And this is my favorite picture of painted kids, isn't it cute how she is holding her sister's hand?

Cousin Shirts 2010

I love having the cousins make shirts that are all matching and taking pictures! I just think they look so cute and even though most of us live far apart, they can remember each other each time they wear their shirts! We did this at our big family reunion a few years ago, and I decided to use some of my festival money to buy the stuff at the last minute and have them make some. It would have been a lot cheaper had I had a bit of for thought, but it was totally worth it! I had to leave early and did not get to see them all pose together, so I stole these pictures from my sister's blog. Don't they look awesome?

I did get to take some pictures of them making the shirts though. We did like a paint spray to get a fake tye dye look. It was so much fun!

I will post some pictures of my kids' shirts closer up in other posts.

Jasmine's Birthday

My cute Jasmine turned 6 in July!

Jonas had to work so me and the kids set off for a day of fun. We went to Classic Fun Center for most of the day, and Boondocks for a little while too.

Here are some pictures of the fun stuff we did. Playing on all of the inflatables.

Swimming at the kiddie pool. Shayden even took Taye down the slide!

Shayden also tried out a couple of the "big" slides. He wasn't daring enough to use one of the boards that would make him go fast though. But last year he probably wouldn't have even tried it, so that's okay.

They also playing this in the blast zone shooting nerf type balls at each other, rode their scooters on the roller skating rink, played in the arcade, and more that I can't remember.

And as you can imagine, in the end they were pooped!
